It's the first of the month again... so time for a new challenge over at Our Creative Corner!
This month, the challenge theme is:
GYPSY FAYRE
This month's challenge invites you to let us see your gypsy nature.
Gypsies are wanderers, purveyors of exquisite things, mysterious things,
free-spirited bohemians curating the beauty of life and sharing the
wonders with you as the travel along.
So for the challenge let your creativity run wild and free like a gypsy
we want you to create interesting items you might imagine finding at a traditional Gypsy Fayre.
You may create whatever your gypsy heart desires, but it must....
contain at least 3 colours from the featured colour palette
or
show us how your project is inspired by this gorgeous ode to the gypsy soul!
So craft with the soul of a gypsy and share the wonder with us.
I created a bracelet..... Whilst
bohemian and individual, the handstamped 'gypsy' charm grounds the
wearer with her sense of identity, wherever her gypsy soul may travel.

I chose the challenge from April 2014: 'With A Song In Your Heart' as my inspiration this month. I love using song lyrics in my art, so this is exactly what I did!
I created a painty background on an MDF panel....
I then drew a whimsical girl, all dressed up in a prim and proper frock.... looks like butter wouldn't melt :)
I used a lyric by Taylor Swift to add a little quirky 'edge' to the whole thing..

All this week, PaperArtsy are launching new releases in their product range... and tonight is a rather special one :)
The fabulously talented Clare Lloyd is releasing new stamps and stencils, and I am very proud to say that she asked me to create some samples to support the launch! Not a difficult decision, Clare creates the most amazing face stamps, it's just a pleasure to work with them!

I created probably too many samples, I got a bit carried away! I have a few sneak peeks to show you now though :)
The colour scheme we used was a really lovely pink and turquoise pallette... fabulous for crazy hair colours as well as the other details!
I used a mixture of substrates for my samples... I love using deep edged pieces, I can add stripes!
Clare has created two fabulous faces, I decided to colour them with a dark and also a light complexion to show a bit of variety.
The faces in this new release are a lot bigger than before, so you can really go large with your work!!!
This last sample is 11.5" by 8", plenty of room to add in a body to the amazing faces!
I loved creating these, the whole release is fabulous, you need to check it out!

It's the first of the month, so that means it's time for a new challenge over at Our Creative Corner!
Fabrics, wool, threads, lace - this months challenge is all about texture, layers and loveliness! What scraps have you got hidden away? Any snippets of favourite clothes you can't bare to part with? Anything
sewing related can be used in your piece. You could use stitches,
sewing machine or fake stitches. Don't forget to get out your sewing
themed stamps and dies. Have fun and create something!
I decided to focus on the fabric/texture part of the brief, and used torn up fabric strips in my project!
I used inks to colour the fabric, and also to colour the card upon which I stamped the butterfly . A bit of a fresh and springlike colour scheme of pink, turquoise and green!

Make time
Why not promise something good to yourself for the new year's start?
To
make more quality time for yourself for example and spend it doing what
you love? Creative time is quality time if you
listen to your inner voice and follow your own speed instead of
listening to the clock ticking and reminding you of deadlines or other
duties. Other work will be done so much easier (and faster) after
some recreational me-time as it will have fueled up your energy!
So escape the endless circling and
rushing and get yourself in the right mood for some me-time...The mood
board we have in store for you could be a good start.
Claudia challenges you to enjoy what you see and let yourself be
inspired by it. There is no precise theme to narrow your creativity down - just
the colours, shapes, directions, textures and hints of possible themes.
Creative Embellishments will be providing a voucher to spend at their store.
So... my contribution to the theme? I decided to have a bit of a change this month, and create a bracelet using the colour inspiration from the mood board..
I used hand made clay beads, Artisan lampwork beads, along with text beads and ceramic beads thrown in for good measure! All were strung onto waxed lined cord, then secured with a hand forged and antiqued clasp.
