'Happy Clare' : For PaperArtsy

Hello!
I am thrilled to be a guest designer over on the PaperArtsy blog again tonight!
The theme this time is 'niches', and I have created an art doll (oh really?!!), with a niche holding her heart!
She is called 'Happy Clare', after the designer of that wonderful face, Clare Lloyd!
There are step by step pictures over on the blog now, so have a look to see how she was made!
Have a great weekend everyone!

Big news...and a rainbow!

Hello!
So sorry I have been a little absent from blogland recently... maybe because I have been a bit busy?!?
I can now share with you all that I am the new Editor of Craft Stamper magazine!
I'm so excited I can't tell you, I will be doing my very best to bring you a bright, happy, vibrant magazine, filled to the brim with arty gorgeousness of the mixed media variety!

My design team work will still carry on though, how better to be fully immersed in this wonderful crafty world? If I know the artists, then I can bring them into the magazine to share all that wonderful art!

I have two DT posts today (bad scheduling on my part lol!), the first one is a very restrained (for me anyway) rainbow panel for WOW! Embossing Powders....
I love how the shiny black embossing really 'pops' next to the rainbow of paint!
More pics can be found on the WOW! blog HERE
I will see you this afternoon to share a colourful assemblage!
Have a great day!

Our Creative Corner: Exciting News!

Hello!
I have an announcement!
Today marks the start of a new adventure...as a DT member for Our Creative Corner! I'm very excited, I'm joining a very talented group!

The April challenge is launched today over on the OCC blog HERE.
The challenge is hosted by Laurie, who explains the theme like this:

Color your World

"Here in the United States we are coming into spring - the season when nature comes forth with new life.
Soft green grasses grow in the fields and the trees bloom in glorious colors with the promise of fruit.
Tulips and daffodils emerge from the soil after a long winters nap.
The colors of spring, the sights and sounds of nature at this time of the year renews my soul.
In the spring time the colors of nature are different around the world.
For my challenge this month I want you to
Color Your World
For this challenge create a project with the colors of spring time where you live.
Show us what colors renew your soul"
My contribution is this quirky birdie...
I've used some of my favourite spring colours,  sky blue, fresh new shoot green, as well as tulip red and a tiny bit of crocus purple!
My bird is made from clay. I moulded a rough bird shape, then created a small niche in his tummy. This was filled with a tiny clay heart. Both the bird and the heart were painted....

I cut thin strips of card, then coiled them into circles to create the nest. The nest was glued on top of a painted spool...

To add a little extra detail, I tied cord around the spool and knotted it, as you can see!
The finishing touch is his crown....a metal embellishment, covered with old book pages and then painted!

The challenge this month is sponsored by Creative Embellishments

The lucky winner drawn at random will win a great voucher..

I really hope you'll all go on over and take a look at the inspiration my DT teamies have on show....trust me, it's worth a look!
Have a fabulous week everyone!
