Shabby Chic Panel: A WOW! / 3L Blog Hop!

Hello!
Over on the WOW! blog today, I'm sharing a shabby chic panel as part of a collaborative blog hop! WOW Embossing Powders have teamed up with 3L adhesive products for the hop, and the design team are showcasing projects created using product from both companies. My project is this shabby chic panel...
I've used rather a lot of WOW product, all stuck down with 3L adhesives!
My base is a book covered piece of chipboard, sprinkled liberally with pink and white powders, as well as the more defined dots...
These dots are embossed in opaque bright white powder, after stamping with the fabulous dotty border stamp!
I also covered some metal leaf embellishments with powder, more white mixed in with some olive...
I then got out my moulds and created some 3D embellishments for my piece. Three roses...
And a heart...
I gave one rose and the heart a glittery coating. This is a little tricky! If you mix the embossing glitter with opaque powder as you melt it before pouring into the mould, the glitter gets 'lost' in the mix and is not very noticeable. The trick is to add the glitter AFTER the piece is solid and removed from the mould. Very (very!) carefully, heat up your 3D item until you start to see the shine. This means the very top layer is starting to melt, and you can add on the embossing glitter. Gently add more heat until the glitter is melted. You will need to be very careful not to over heat, as the 3D item will obviously lose its shape! You can really see the shine on the heart if you look at the top of this pic...
As you can see, I added lace and a cut out word to further embellish the panel.
My finishing touch was the silver butterfly...
I stuck some adhesive sheet to a scrap of card, then die cut my butterfly. Once the sticky backing was removed, the butterfly was placed on some silver foil. The sticky adhesive adheres to the foil, and the end result is a shiny silver embellishment! I added twisted wire antenna to give a bit more of a 3D look.
A bit of a change in style from me today, hope you like it!

Don't forget to hop on over to the WOW blog and leave a comment......there are prizes to be won!
See you soon,

  4. Beautiful shabby chic piece! I have tried the "applying after" technique not with glitter but micas and I concur... not easy to hit on the right amount of heating!
