The right hand side is the peeled bit, and I covered the other side with book paper....
I gave the whole thing a wash of cream paint, then did a little stamping with brown ink and blue paint...
The butterflies (Memory Box -prob my favourite butterfly stamp ever!) were stamped onto book paper covered cardstock. They were stamped and coloured a little too, before I shaped them and stuck them to the base. A little few pearls for the bodies....
The hanger is a driftwood stick that I have covered with more book paper and given a touch of paint. Large eyelets and gold wire fasten the hanger to the main piece....
This is a bit of a muted colour scheme in comparison to my usual stuff, maybe a bit of a shabby chic thing going on? he he he, good job really as I'm entering it into the Simon Says Stamp And Show challenge which has the title "Chic to be Shabby" !!!
I also want to enter the first challenge from the new Country View Crafts challenge site! (I dread to think about how much money I've spent with them over the past couple of years!) As that challenge is a general 'Pick and Mix' theme, hopefully this panel will fit right in!
Love Trish xxxx
a really beautiful project.x
ReplyDeleteTrish...I LOVE your little wall hanging! It started off with something people probably just throw away every day and you've made into something gorgeous! Beautiful colors that you've used on this! Very shabby chic! I love your butterflies-how you've made them and how you've placed them on your painted and stamped corrugated piece. I think what I like best about this piece is it's simple beauty. It doesn't need all of the flowers and shabby ribbon to be gorgeous! Thanks so much for sharing this very very lovely piece with us at Simon Says Stamp and Show. <3 Candy
ReplyDeleteThis is so gorgeous Trish. I love the soft creamy palette and stamping with the paints. Those butterflies are beautiful

ReplyDeleteI love this ... corrugated cardboard it a great base and you have used it brilliantly. Beautiful work! x
ReplyDeleteLove it!! Butterflies are my favourite crafty image right now. I am addicted (just a little healthy addiction) to corrugated cardboard & that's since it came in the packaging from a certain goody box I won?? Lol. Not sure about shabby chic as I wouldn't say I'm into that style. Perhaps I need to broaden my ideas of that?! Whatever the look it works here! I NEED an eyelet tool, they give such a great finish! Thank you Trish for endless inspiration. Have a good week & good luck with all your entries! Caroline :)
ReplyDeleteJust loooooove the look of it!

ReplyDeleteYou are so creative - this is wonderful and I like the idea of stamping the sentiment on tissue paper first.
