Peacock Panels

For my last Creative Expressions DT piece of 2012, I decided to again showcase the Peacock Feather stamp from the Masquerade Stamp plate (can you tell how much I like this stamp?!)
Still with a Wintery silver and white feel, but a design that can be adapted to suit any occasion!
The main features of this card are the four triple embossed feather panels. In the true spirit of Christmas and the whole sharing thing (!!)....here is a little step by step on how to create them!!
The base you use needs to be fairly sturdy as there is a lot of UTEE going on there..... so no thin card! I've used greyboard (like the backs of A4 refill pads!) I put a coat of white paint on my squares just in case there was a missing bit of UTEE and the base could be seen!
Cover with a layer of embossing ink...
Cover with a layer of UTEE (I've used white...)
Melt the powder with a heat gun....
We need three layers of powder for this technique. If you're quick you can get the next layer of powder to stick to the previous hot layer of melted powder. If not, simply add more embossing ink!
Once the last layer of powder is on, I always take a minute before I melt it. This gives me time to get the stamp at the ready, inked up if I decide to impress colour into the powder or not (not, in this case!)
As soon as the third layer is melted, press the stamp into it. (Excuse my mucky acrylic block!)
Once the UTEE is cold, remove the stamp..
I've used silver paint to rub gently over the top to emphasise the design...
I created four panels, placing the stamp in a different position each time. Once done, I splattered them with silver and white paint...
and then mounted them all onto a piece of cardstock that I had stamped in silver with the feather..
I mounted the panel  onto a white card blank, and finished off with some silver yarn to complete the look!
Hope you like it!
I'll be back in the New Year with lots more Creative Expressions projects!!

Peace And Hope - For Creative Expressions

Hello!
Thursday again, so that means another DT project for Creative Expressions ! Whilst still focussing on the Umount Masquerade Stamp plate , I've also included a few more Creative Expressions stamps in this piece, and I think I love this the most out of all my DT creations so far!!
The base is a Kraft Tag , and I've created a simple background by smearing on Waterfall Eco Green paint , and White Eco Green Paint  . I've overstamped using the white paint, and also with Mushroom Adirondack Paint Dabber . I love the gorgeous circles in Sam Pooles bubble background .....
And the fab grid texture from the Urban Beat Plate ....
I've splatted the background with white paint, and also some silver paint from a Brushed Pewter Distress Stain .
This is the second outing this week for Miss Tatty Button , and a totally different look!
This time I've stamped her onto text paper, and coloured her coat, hat and gloves with a wash of the waterfall paint. I used white puff paint for the trimmings, and added just a teeny tiny dash of red for her lips!
She is standing on peacock feathers stamped in white paint onto Kraft card. These are from the Masquerade plate....
Chit Chat words, and silver yarn finished off the tag.
I'm liking the colour scheme, Christmassy but not too 'in your face' !!!!!

Just a little bling......

Not normally one for the excessive bling, me....... then I saw these earrings in Primark and changed my mind! Not to be used as actual earrings, of course, just as adornments for anything that needs some serious sparkle!!
Over at Simon Says Stamp And Show this week, the challenge is to be inspired by the 12 Tags of Christmas, as created by the man himself, Tim Holtz. I've gone for a little take on the Day 9 tag from 2010 .
My background was created using Faded Jeans Distress Ink, Picket Fence Distress Stain and a touch of pewter Perfect Pearls...
I also splatted it with silver ink and white paint to get a snowy and shimmery look. I chose to use the word 'joy' on my piece, but covered the letters in Glossy Accents as in the original tag. Gorgeous glass like finish!
The rosette was then topped with my bling earring for the final touch.....
ooooh sparkly....as my daughter said when she saw it!

Mistletoe Kisses!

Hello!
I've been trying out new colour schemes for some Seasonal projects..... I'm drawn to silvers and white at this time of year, so wanted a change!
I've been playing with blues and icy greens...
The red was only added at the end once my figure was on there....the red of her jacket and hat was just too much by itself, it needed a little on the background to balance it out!
Painty, textured background...
Puff paint and stamps along with the paint smears...
Splats and a little silver detail here and there added to the background. I used a Tatty Button image (watch out for her in a different guise for my next Creative Expressions DT piece!)
I'm now experimenting with more pale greens, just love the subtle colour!
Stay warm everyone!

Crystal Sparkle...

Hello!
After my little foray into using crystals on a project yesterday, I thought I'd try another one!
The light hitting them was sending tiny rainbows everywhere, so it was feeling very festive in my studio! I came up with this...
I started off with a spool, and covered it with text paper. A wash of white paint, then rubbed with some silver Treasure Gold...flipping love this stuff, soooooo shiny!
A few splats of white paint, and the background was done!
I added my favourite angel image on top....
She is by Inkadinkado, I've had her for so long I doubt they make her any more!
Lots of crystals on wire, and sprinkled about her feet...
I added a little snowball trim and a title... then she went straight onto the windowsill to catch some rays! Unfortunately thats when it went pitch black and started throwing it down with icy rainy sleet............
Typical!!!
Hope your day is warmer... at least being right by the sea we don't usually have snow to contend with, just this awful cold wind!

The Masquerade Ball.... For Creative Expressions

Hello!
For my Creative Expressions DT project this week, I've chosen to showcase a stamp from the Umount Masquerade plate . Still trying to keep up with my Winter themes, I've created an invitation to an imaginary ball....
I made the background using Brushed Pewter Distress Stain and Picket Fence Distress Stain. Smooshed onto a craft mat, then spritzed with water! I dipped and swirled the cardstock in the mixture, then dried it off. Lots of splats of both the silver and white, and I also overstamped the background with the snowflake stamp from the Tim Holtz Christmas Time Stamp Set ........

The mask itself, was stamped onto white card, and silver embossed. Cut out, then adhered to a bamboo skewer that I'd painted silver and white! I Added some crystals on twisted silver wire behind the mask to give that little extra bling!
I had fun with this, hope you like it!!!
