Happy Wednesday and happy WOYWW everyone!
Enough of the waffle that no one reads eh? You just want to see the mess!
Actually, not that messy! Lots of things on the go means a clear up before I start, so its looking fairly tidy on the desk...
Bit of a coincidence in that both my magazine projects this month are focussing on resin, so my desk is really a 'using up whats left' photo. As you know if you work with resin, if there's any left in the pot when you've done your main item, you need to fill up random moulds so there's no resin waste! So, i've coloured the left over resin with orange glitter and used a tiny flower mould and a mould I made ages ago of a winged heart. Thats the purple thing on the right............ Its a fab shape when its done, I used it for a previous mag project and made this..................
The heart was initially plain black resin, but a light swipe with gold paint gives a nice antique-y look.
I usually use Easy Cast resin, but one project was focussing on a different brand, Ice Resin. (Thats why you can see two brands in the main pic!) Gave me a good opportunity to compare them, and they actually are very very similar. The Ice Resin is a smidge clearer when cured than the Easy Cast, but thats about it! Easy Cast is cheaper and easier to get hold of though........
What else do I do with resin? lots......mostly making funky and kitsch jewellery, always a huge seller wherever there are lots of children present! Long ago dtitched the 'posh' jewellery if I was doing a school fair or fete, the resin stuff flies off the stall! This kind of thing...
(Cupcake rings modelled beautifully by eldest daughter who has a study day off college!)
Right, that's me done for this week!
I'm going off to blog hop...why don't you join me! Julia has all the details of all the fabulous desks to visit!
Love Trish xxxx

  21. Those cupcake rings are gorgeous and love the heart with dangles.
Resin looks like so much fun. I bought some of the magic glos resin but haven't had time to try it yet, will have to make time.
Thanks for your advice re the cutter. I might see how much the guillotines are, if the cards start selling.
    Have a great week.

  22. Beautiful tidy desk. But those cupcake rings are to die for so cute great job.

  23. Looks like you had lots of fun with the cup cakes. I shall have to try some resin some time:)

  24. Oh my gosh--what a crazy ring! I know that kitsy stuff is big though. It isn't for me though, I'd clock myself with it again and again. I've never been into resins and moulds but I've seen some fun things produced. I think you've got the market on cupcake rings though.

  25. Ooh, the cupcakes are gorgeous! I have never worked with resin but I love creating in that way -I have loads of sugarpaste moulds for cake decorating. I shall look into using resin now - sounds like a lot of fun!

  26. Those cupcake rings are so darling! I don't use resin, but I use Apoxie Sculpt and end up with left overs. I ought to start putting that into molds to make things for future projects. Don't know why I didn't think of that before! *lol* Warmly, Tracy WOYWW #81

  27. The only resin I've worked with is the incredibly stinky stuff used when laying up fibreglass! You wouldn't want to be breathing that in all day, lol! Bet the kids love those rings, very funky.

  32. Love those cupcake rings... would be fab as napkin rings to go with my cake stand and plates... ;) Your heart with wings looks lovely antique-ey with the gold touch too!

  33. Adorable cute rings!
